Following our recent annual meeting I’d like to warmly welcome our newly elected Executive Council.
Congratulations also to Dr Karaitiana Taiuru for contributing a Te Ao Māori AI Ethics perspective to the global conversation on AI governance. His chapter, AI Regulation from Indigenous Māori/New Zealand Perspective, features in the new book, AI Governance Ethics: Artificial Intelligence with Shared Values and Rules. This vital contribution brings indigenous insights to global AI ethics—something we can all be proud of.
This month, we were proudly one of 80 organisations globally who were invited to review and comment on the International AI Safety Report. The report is chaired by Professor Yoshua Bengio alongside an Expert Advisory Panel consisting of 30 countries, the European Union and the United Nations. Following the publication of the Interim Report, the final version will be presented at the AI Action Summit in Paris, February 2025.
