Real AI Case Studies and Success Stories from the Field

Event Recording

About the event:

Join us for Part 5 of our seven-part series. A collaborative initiative hosted by AI Forum NZ in partnership with ACE New Zealand and presented by academyEX.

What does architecture, engineering and construction look like in 2046?

That’s the provocation we’re bringing to our next AI Forum NZ AEC Working Group session — and it’s going to be a big one.

🔨 Blueprint 2046: The Future of ACE in the Age of AI

Join us for a 90-minute panel discussion that dares to ask: what becomes possible if everything goes humanity’s way?

We’re bringing together voices from across the built environment — architecture, engineering, construction, and a te ao Māori worldview — to explore a protopian vision of our industry, 20 years from now.

Your host & panel:

  • 🎤 Theresa Wells (GHD) — Host
  • 🏛️ Nick Sterling — Architecture
  • ⚙️ Paul Murphy (GHD) — Engineering
  • 🏗️ Jon Sinclair — Construction
  • 🌿 Maureen Crampton — Kaupapa Māori, Construction & AI
  • 🎙️ Facilitated by Ana Ivanovic-Tongue (academyEX)

We’ll be exploring questions like:

  • What has AI finally made obsolete — and what did that free us to create instead?
  • Can AI help us build infrastructure that is not just resilient, but antifragile — self-healing to climate change?
  • What does Māori data sovereignty look like when our buildings and land are part of a living data ecosystem?
  • How do we avoid “algorithmic slums” optimised for cost but devoid of culture?
  • Could the construction site of the future look more like a NASA control room?

This isn’t just a tech conversation. It’s a conversation about people, place, and purpose — and what the built environment owes to both present and future generations, viewed through a te ao Māori lens alongside the latest in AI thinking.

Whether you’re a designer, engineer, builder, technologist, or just someone who cares deeply about the future we’re building — this session is for you.
