Why we have formed
The AI for Human Resources Working Group (AI for HR Working Group) has been established within the AI Forum NZ to explore the transformative impact of AI on HR functions and the workforce. As AI reshapes the way organisations attract, manage, and develop talent, this group provides a platform for HR professionals, AI experts, and business leaders to collaborate, share insights, and establish best practices.
The working group is focused on helping New Zealand businesses integrate AI into HR functions responsibly, ensuring AI-driven workplace decisions are ethical, transparent, and aligned with legal and cultural considerations—including the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Through research, discussion, and practical recommendations, the AI for HR Working Group aims to:
- Inform the broader AI governance discussions within the AI Forum NZ by providing insights on AI’s impact on employment, skills, and organisational culture.
- Explore how AI can enhance HR functions, from recruitment and workforce planning to employee engagement and leadership development.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to AI bias, data privacy, and ethical concerns in HR applications.
- Develop practical frameworks and best practices for HR professionals integrating AI into their workplaces.
- Ensure Te Ao Māori perspectives are embedded in AI-driven HR strategies.
